    7 Full-time Research Assistant Openings in the CIRCLE Lab at UNC Chapel Hill

    We are a vibrant research team at UNC Chapel Hill, led by Drs. Margaret Sheridan and Adam Miller. The Child Imaging Research on Cognition and Life Experiences (CIRCLE) Lab primarily studies the impact of different life experiences on behavior and the developing brain.     We are excited to announce that we have 7 full-time post-bacc research assistant openings in our lab! For more information on the breakdown of projects and core responsibilities of each position, please see below. In addition to developing and/or honing their research skills, post-bacc research assistants will have the opportunity to engage in professional development opportunities, such as learning advanced statistical analyses, presenting at conferences and/or contributing to publications, varying upon the individual’s interest and performance. Post-bacc research assistants in our lab have also been historically successful in going onto graduate programs and medical schools of their choice.

    Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (upon job start date), basic knowledge of research and statistics, good communication and organization skills, work well in a team and independently

    Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years of relevant research and/or administrative experience, experience working on neuroimaging studies, experience working closely with families in clinical and/or research settings

    WHALE (Wellness Health and Life Experiences) Study

    Wellness Health And Life Experiences Study (WHALE)

    This is a NIH-funded project that examines the association between early adversity exposure and its impact on brain development.
    [Study Population: 4-7 years olds | Data Collection Status: Active]

    – 3 Full-time Research Assistants (with emphasis on data collection)
    Core responsibilities (include but not limited to):
    • recruit and interface effectively with families from diverse backgrounds
    • conduct various types of data collection (questionnaires, interview, behavioral, biological and neuroimaging) and data analyses under the guidance of PI
    • help with training undergraduate research assistants on recruitment and/or study visit-related tasks

    – 1 Full-time Research Assistant (with emphasis on data management)
    Core responsibilities (include but not limited to):
    • conduct data cleaning, quality-checks, management and analyses under the guidance of PI
    • help with training undergraduate research assistants on data entry-related tasks

    STTAR (Study of Toddler to Teenager Anxiety and Resiliency) Study

    Study of Toddler to Teenager Anxiety and Resiliency (STTAR)

    This is a NIH-funded project that examines how experiences in early childhood can shape brain development and outcomes in adolescence.
    [Study Population: 15-20 years olds | Data Collection Status: Active]

    – 1 Full-time Research Assistant
    Core responsibilities (include but not limited to):
    • recruit and interface effectively with families from diverse backgrounds
    • conduct various types of data collection (questionnaires, interview, behavioral and neuroimaging)
    • conduct data cleaning, quality-checks, management and analyses under the guidance of PI
    • help with training undergraduate research assistants on various study-related tasks

    YES (Youth Emotion Study) Study

    Youth Emotion Study (YES)

    This is a NIH-funded project that examines how stressful life experiences affect brain development in adolescence and elucidating neural risk markers for self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (STBs).

    – 1 Full-time Research Assistant
    Core responsibilities (include but not limited to):
    • conduct data cleaning, quality-checks, management and analyses under the guidance of PI
    • maintain IRB applications and study documentations
    • help with training undergraduate research assistants on various study-related tasks

    – 1 Full-time Research Assistant (with emphasis on lab coordination and project management)
    Core responsibilities (include but not limited to):
    • maintain IRB applications and study documentations for various studies in the lab
    • conduct data analyses under the guidance of PI
    • help centralize lab procedures and complete diverse administrative duties (e.g., assisting with managing lab finances and order placement, facilitating undergraduate research assistant recruitment and application review process)
    • help with onboarding new lab members and training undergraduate research assistants
