I am recruiting a Full time research project coordinator for research focused on stress and coping of adolescents and families in poverty. Primary responsibilities will be related to a NIMH grant “The School Based Virtual BaSICS (Building a Strong Identity and Coping SKills) Project” and a PCCD grant funded Rise UPtown BaSICS study. This could be an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate who is looking for experiences to help strengthen a graduate school application. We are hoping to fill the position by July 2021.
The CaRES Lab focuses on environmental stress and how children and families adapt to it. We are particularly interested in discovering sources of resiliency in children and their families and using this information to build programs to strengthen children and families who face stress. We focus on coping, self-regulation, and family support in our basic and applied research studies. We use several different methodologies to capture these phenomena at multiple levels, and our studies include experiments, structured observations, and physiologic assessments. Our intervention work has involved developing and evaluating prevention programs for families facing significant environmental risks such as poverty and acculturation stress, and using intervention research to further answer and refine basic science questions. Through this intervention research, we also hope to gain more information on how to develop highly effective intervention programs for children.
Responsibilities include tracking project goals, working with PI to come up with timelines and schedules, assisting staff (assessing children, recruiting families, attending intervention sessions), tracking recruitment enrollment, organizing paperwork and participants private information. Data management roles include creating and managing datasets in SPSS, lead data coding efforts with undergraduate research assistants, prepare data for submission to the NIH.Financial tracking, making purchases, requesting petty cash, settling receipts. Administrative duties include reserving conference rooms, scheduling meetings, handling IT tasks, hiring part-time staff, maintaining IRB compliance, recruiting volunteer research assistants, completing compliance training and tracking other’s completion. Currently, our lab and research is operating virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
