Description: The Center for OCD and Related Disorders, directed by Dr. Blair Simpson, is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator. The Center for OCD and Related Disorders is located in the New York State Psychiatric Institute, affiliated with Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Its mission is to improve the lives of individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related problems, by advancing our understanding of and treatment for these disorders. This position is ideal for someone interested in translating science into new treatments for patients with anxiety, OCD, and related disorders and who is considering applying to either medical or graduate school. We would like to hire someone who could start on June 15th, 2022.
Duties: The candidate will be responsible for helping to run clinical research studies under the supervision of Dr. Simpson and her team. The job will expose one to a wide range of research, while also providing in-depth experience with patients with OCD and/or anxiety disorders. Duties include: helping with participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling, clinical assessments, neurocognitive testing, brain imaging procedures, data management, IRB procedures, grant applications, and/or manuscript preparation. Because of the training involved, a two-year commitment is requested.
Education: Preferred BA or BS in Biology, Psychology, or another related field.
Training & Experience: The ideal candidate will be curious about the mechanisms of behavior, have research experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of data management software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, RedCap), and want to work with this clinical population. Those who thrive working on interdisciplinary teams and in a fast-paced environment and who are smart, ambitious, creative, organized, and fun are encouraged to apply.
